Baby Jogger is coming to town

Today, Rolando ordered me a baby jogger. We got the Chariot with the infant sling. It's suppossed to be one of Fabiola Christmas presents. I can't wait until it arrives, it will be here Thursday. I started running more regularly and have been going about 3.5 miles about 3 times a week. I'm not running very fast yet, But that's OK, I just want to start adding more distance. Once I can start bringing Fabiola with me, I think it will get easier. We did not order the bike conversion kit since it's not recommended to be used with babies under 1 year. That's OK, I've been biking on the trainer and the Spin Bikes at work.
I'm starting next month to teach the Thursday night Spin class at work and I'll also be teaching a 20-20-20 class. It should cover 20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of strenght, and 20 minutes of flexibility. I've never taught this class so I'm hoping it will go well. I was really counting on teaching Spinning only, but they needed that class also.

Back at work

Well, I went back to work this. I'm very part-time. i work three hour shifts Monday-Friday. Monday was miserable. I hated not having Fabiola with me. We have never been apart that long. I can't imagine what mommies that work full time go through. It will get better once we settle into this new routine, but for now it's really hard. On Monday she was already sleeping when I got home and that made me very sad. I only stayed late a t work to workout after work. I ran on the treadmill for 20 minutes and then did some Spinning for 15 minutes. I really wanted to get home but I have to get those workouts inn as often as I can.
Tomorrow we are having a meeting and we will discuss my schedule. Also, I'll start teaching Spinning again in January, so that will make the day go by faster also, since I enjoy it so much.

Very Lazy Week

Well, I ran the Belmont 5K. It's been the longest run I've done since the end of my first trimester of pregnancy. I ran with Erika and we decided to just jogg and take it easy. We talked the whole way and never looked at our watches (actually I didn't wear one). I think our time was somewhere around 35 minutes, but I'm not sure. Much diffrent pace from the normal go as fast as you can. I had actually never done a 5K, I always though the were too short and not worth doing. What a diffrence a year makes.
We are now just a few days from December, normally, Thanksgiving morning, Sharon (my sister in law) and I get together and run 4 miles, we have done that for the last 4 years. I don't know what will happen tomorrow. She arrives tonight and is 20 weeks pregnant. She has had a great pregnancy, she feels much better than I ever did. It may be that we will go on a 4 mile walk instead. That wouldn't be so bad.

First week back

Well, it's been a long time since I went running. Last time was in January, I was 6 weeks pregnant and anything that made my head move up and down ie: running would make run to bathroom to vomit.
After that point I would take short walks and do some very light weight training and then I was done. That all lasted through my second trimester. After years of keeping a food log, I did not keep one at all during my pregnancy. I figured I would not keep myself from enjoying anything I wanted and would not feel guilty about it. I also did not weigh myself and would not look when they weighed me at the doctor's office. By the end of my pregnancy, I had gained 60 lbs.

My daughter is now 11 weeks old, I have lost 30 lbs and I'm finally feeling better since the c-section. Last Saturday I decided to go to the gym and run on the treadmill. I wasn't expecting much, maybe run 30 minutes and 10 minute/mile pace. Ha! I warmed up with a walk and once I started increasing the speed, quickly realized how out of shape I am. I had a hard time dealing with it and tried to run through it. Big mistake, I should know by now that I'm a beginner again.
Well, I ran as much as I could which ended up beign about 2 miles and then thought I'd do some light weights. I superset everything, since I was going light, I wanted to keep my HR up. I felt pretty good about that and went home.

I made plans to go swimming the next morning, when Sunday rolled around I again was hit in the face by the fact that I am not the person I was a year ago. Everything hurt, my legs, my chest, etc. I decided to rest and not do anything Sunday.

Monday, Rolando put my bike together, I had cleaned it real nice over the weekend. It still has the Ironman Lake Placid stickers from July and I don't plan on taking them off until next Ironman in 2009. Well, maybe I will so I don't look like a jerk, I'll stick them in the bento box so I can see them while I'm riding. They are very motivating. I decided to bike for 30 minutes on the trainer, light cadence, nothing over 70rpm. It felt really hard getting started, but once I got going, I felt really good. I think I could have gone longer, but decided not to, I did not want to be super sore the next morning.

Well, a week went by, I lost 2 more lbs. woo hoo! I officially start training with coach Erika in January but I hope to have lost alt least another 10 or 15 lbs by then.  Hopefully, the runs get easier and I'll start swimming this following week. S will Fabiola if her wim diaper arrives soon.
